The village government is responsible for police and fire protection, maintenance of roads and parks, refuse collection, zoning and building standards and recreation.
Ardsley's policy-making body is the Board of Trustees. The mayor and four board members are elected for two-year terms. They meet at Village Hall at 8:00 P.M. on the first and third Mondays of each month, except during the months of July and August when they meet on the first Monday of the month. Board meetings are open to the public (except for executive sessions).
The Village Manager implements the policies of the Board of Trustees and is in charge of the day-to-day operation of the village. The Village Clerk handles a variety of administrative tasks including the issuing of licenses and permits, keeping the laws and records of the village, and supervising local elections. The Village Clerk can be reached at 693-1550.
Village court
The court is in session at the Village Hall every Monday at 2PM and 4 PM and Thursday at 7 PM. The Village Justice, an official, presides. The court handles civil cases, with a maximum jurisdiction of $3,000, small claims with a $2,000 maximum, criminal misdemeanor and felony cases, vehicle and traffic cases, and violations of village ordinances.
