YOUTH ADVOCATE

Allison Mastrogiacomo (formerly Allison DeLuca) has a Master's degree in Social Work and has five years experience working with adolescents. She can be reached at (914) 693-7564 ext 2524 or (914) 674-4845.

The Youth Advocate program is a social, recreational and educational resource for the Ardsley community. It offers activities and services for 7th - 12th graders who live in Ardsley, including those who attend school out of district.

The program has two Youth Advisory Boards, one for middle school and one for high school. The middle school Youth Advisory Board meets during school twice a month to plan activities such as dances, ping pong tournaments and Movie Nights. The high school Youth Advisory Board meets once a month at the Community Center to also plan activities of interest to teens such as Band Nights, barbeques and talent shows. This is a great leadership opportunity for Ardsley youth.

Students in the 7th and 8th grade can enjoy Open Recreation on Mondays and Fridays at the Community Center from 3pm to 6pm. While there they can play pool, ping pong, and foosball, watch television or just hang out with some friends.

The Youth Advocate is also available to talk to 7th - 12th graders if they are having difficulty with friends, school or family, feeling stressed, or have something on their mind they would like to talk about. The Youth Advocate is available to speak with students at the Community Center by appointment. Counseling services are free and confidential.
