The Village of Ardsley issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) in the early Spring 2022 for qualified professional consulting services in Parks and Recreaion Master Planning. You can find the RFP for Parks and Recreation Master Planning Services here.
The Village of Ardsley has engaged the services of Weston & Sampson and BerryDunn to develop a village-wide Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The intent of this plan is to identify our community’s park and recreation needs so we can proactively plan for the future. The Village has begun holding focus group meetings to engage members of the community in the planning process.
The Village held a public meeting open to the entire community on March 16, 2023 from 7-9 at the Thelma Zimmer-William Van Dorn Youth and Community Center located at 18 Center Street. If you missed the meeting, you can find a copy of the presentation here.
The Village of Ardsley asked residents to help evaluate its park and recreation services by completing a digital survey. All residents, partner agency/organization representatives, business community representatives, and users of facilities and services were invited to share their views. The survey closed on December 31, 2022 and 533 responses were submitted.
Background
The Village is now embarking on a new Parks and Recreation Master Planning process to guide decision making and investment in accordance with the Village of Ardsley Comprehensive Plan.
Current Mission Statement: To promote the health and well-being of our community, environment and economy by facilitating recreational opportunities and coordinating the enhancement of our parks, facilities and natural resources now and into the future.
Current Vision Statement: To be the central driving force in strengthening the heritage of a healthy, active community for future generations by continuing on the path of improving and enhancing our parks and facilities.
Comprehensive Plan Theme: Provide
"1c. PROVIDE SAFE, ATTRACTIVE, ACCESSIBLE AND WELL-MAINTAINED PARKS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES TO SERVE RESIDENTS OF ALL AGES AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES. Improvements to municipal parks and recreational facilities that make them safer, more appealing, and accessible will ensure all Village residents benefit from public spaces. To achieve this, the Village can prioritize funding for recreational assets, restore and interconnect the Ardsley’s public parks, create new and renovate existing public recreational spaces and facilities, re-establish and improve public access to the river, and develop recreational programming."
Implementation Action: Maintain and/or restore all parks throughout the village to a level that is purposefully functional and aesthetically pleasing.
